Artist’s Statement – Thomas Robert Frederick

So often we run through today's harried, high-speed world with no time to slow down and take a deeper look.

I rebel. I stop and take a closer look at flowers. I find the stories they tell me, the impact, the drama, and the beauty. Then I pack each image full of time and depth by using very long exposures and hand-painted light. The hand-painted light allows me to tell the stories in unique ways. I often use magnification to take people closer to the flowers.

It is my hope that the beauty of the images makes a positive impact on our troubled world.
