FORT COLLINS, Colorado – January 5, 2007 – The “Wildflower Hearts” art show reveals the hearts of floral and botanical subjects through photographic fine art. Local artists Stephen J. Allen and Thomas Robert Frederick collaborated on the Valentine’s Day theme. Expressive images created with uncommon artistic photographic techniques predominate. Free show opens Friday, February 2, from 6 to 9 PM and runs throughout February. Gallery hours are Saturdays 12 to 5 PM, Sundays 1 to 4 PM, and Friday Feb 9, 5-7 PM. The CoCOA (Colorado Coalition of Artists) gallery is located at 423 S. Mason St, Fort Collins, CO 80524. (970) 221-3019

The artists will give educational demonstrations of two uncommon techniques on Sunday, February 4, from 1 to 4 PM and Saturday, February 10, from 12 to 5 PM. Mr. Allen will demonstrate Polaroid transfers and Mr. Frederick will demonstrate hand-painted light. The artists also practice modern digital artistic techniques along with the “old-fashioned” methods. The current convergence of old and new unleashes unprecedented artistic freedom to the photographer so inclined. Questions will be entertained.

Stephen J. Allen’s fascination with photography began at age 8. He has studied and experienced many aspects of photography and art and currently teaches photo classes. His works have enjoyed many awards as they’ve exhibited nationwide. He also paints, using oils and pastels.

Thomas Robert Frederick’s photographic experiences began at age 14. He strives to be less a photographer and more “an artist who uses a camera.”
